About the Position:
University Extended Education Budget/Finance collaborates with University departments and colleges on unique programs for students from the community and around the world.
We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our Extension and International Programs (EIP) team as the Accountant I.
The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
Under the general direction of the Associate Director, Accounting and Finance for EIP, the Accountant I provides accounting and financial support to EIP leadership and EIP in general.
Generates routine financial reports and statements and/or analysis and develops and maintain a third-party invoicing and collection process.
Financial reporting to director and serves as a backup to the team.
Verifies written notification of student by sponsor and pertinent information required for third party contracts.
Prepares and submits invoices to third party contact for payment.
Collects, reconciles, and deposits third party contract payments.
Reconciles disbursement date and funds received.
Resolves inconsistencies and deviations from established procedures and accounting principles.
Creates and maintains financial reports related to third party billings.
Other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in accounting, business administration, or a closely related field or a combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.
General knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles(GAAP) and practices, office methods and procedures, the statistical and arithmetic presentation of data, and the uses of computers in accounting functions.
Ability to learn and apply laws, rules, and procedures related to governmental accounting.
Ability to interpret and follow instructions and policy guidelines, analyze financial and statistical data, and draw sound conclusions.
Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques and operate calculating machines, personal computers, and/or automated accounting systems.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment.
CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.
Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in higher education institution and/or self-support funding environment.
Experience in handling multi-funding structure.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
