GENERAL JOB
Summary:
The Nurse's Aide assists the licensed nursing staff by performing routine nursing duties and activities of daily living in the Healthcare Center.

JOB DUTIES:
Assists patients with dressing, grooming, eating, bathing, positioning, toileting and exercising that allows the resident to maintain and reach his/her highest practicable level of physical, mental, and psychological functioning.

Reads Kardex and updates daily.

Carries out procedures, and collects specimens, as directed by charge nurse and according to care plan instructions.

Documents ADL care provided on CNA ADL flow sheets and reports any changes in resident to charge nurse on duty.

Transfers, transports, and escorts patients as needed.

Answers call lights promptly.

Changes bed linens, makes bed, and keeps rooms clean and orderly.

Regularly exhibits strong commitment to customer services with residents, staff, vendors and guests.

Works effectively and efficiently with others.

Maintains safe and sanitary work stations and equipment.

Encourages independence, attendance at activities, restorative programs, and rehabilitation.

Follows all State and Federal regulations according to nursing policy and procedure protocols i.e. infection control, hand washing, isolation precautions, resident safety, resident ADL care.

Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.

Performs specific work duties and responsibilities, as assigned by charge nurse and/or supervisor.

Is clear and concise in communication skills.

Accepts constructive criticism.

Attendance is an essential function of the job.

Qualifications:
Successful completion of a state-approved geriatric nursing assistant training program; prior geriatric nursing aide experience is preferred
Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic
Ability to document care that is given
Current CPR Certification

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting; must be able to stand/walk for up to 70% of the work day; must be able to transfer, turn and position residents weighing up to 200 +/- lbs. May be subjected to offensive odors and combative behavior. Must be able to transport residents weighing up to generally 200 +/- lbs via wheelchair, gerichair or shower chair. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 +/- lbs. frequently, and 50+/- lbs. occasionally. May be exposed to communicable diseases including the HIV and HBV viruses. Must be able to work paying close attention to detail with frequent interruptions.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
